Interstate Customer is Surprised by Outrageous
“Outrageous” – meaning “exceeding the limits of rational expectations” – is the only word we could find to accurately describe our batteries. Former mechanic and all-around handy guy Fred Rubens, from Birmingham, Ala., recently discovered exactly what we mean.
Back in October 2000, he bought an Interstate® battery for his 1987 Volvo station wagon when he was working for Interstate Batteries Dealer Franklin Automotive. As a mechanic, Fred received a discount on his battery. For a 50-month battery, it seemed like a good deal.
He didn’t realize how good a deal he was getting.
“My car’s the only one in the family that just seems to keep going,” he said. “Every day, there’s no doubt in my mind. My car’s going to crank right up, and I can drive off.”
After 12 years and about 225,000 miles, his battery keeps cranking, even as the cars for his wife and kids give up their batteries. Fred had to replace the battery in his wife’s Saab, his daughter’s station wagon, a Jeep Grand Cherokee and another family Volvo – all in the last four years. In one desperate situation, one daughter was driving her vehicle to drop it off at an auction. At a fuel stop, her battery died – and Fred drove his Volvo and Outrageously Dependable® Interstate out to jump it.
Fred said, as a mechanic, typically he saw batteries needing to be replaced three to five years, nothing like the long life his battery continues to give him after 12 years.
“Anyways, I’m pretty happy,” he said.
