The Writing On The Battery: Still Good
Everything wears down, eventually, especially on cars.
“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it” is the motto of the unprepared. At Interstate Batteries, we say “If it ain’t broke yet, check.” That’s called preventive maintenance, and it’s how Ohio resident Cody Rodgers became an Interstate fan.
Cody works and goes to school – which means he counts on his 1987 300D Mercedes-Benz for a lot.
One day, he was changing the oil and decided to check on a few other items, especially that Interstate battery he’s had since he bought the car in 2010.
Good experience with Interstate
“When I purchased the car, I was pleased to see it had an Interstate battery installed as I’ve had an excellent experience in the past with them,” Cody wrote in a testimonial to Interstate. “I thought it would be a good idea to check the age of the battery to anticipate when I should replace it.”
That’s good thinking, Cody. (If you’re not in the middle of an oil change, you can also drive up to your local Interstate All Battery Center® for a free battery test with our ED-18® Battery Analyzer.)
Reading the sticker
The sticker on top of Cody’s Mega-Tron Plus® was marked April 2001. A little skeptical, Cody found the manufacturing date burned into the side of his battery, B1AGK, and went to our Frequently Asked Questions to decipher the code. February 2001.
“I’m totally amazed that battery is 13 years old,” Cody said. He’s starting his car at least twice a day, and so did the previous owners. “I think that’s a real testament to the quality of your products. I’m excited to see how long it will last me!”
Well, the writing is on the battery: Interstate’s the best pick for people who like to keep things running for more than a decade.
