Team Interstate Avoids Calamity in Kansas
Although Kyle Busch didn’t win Sunday’s Hollywood Casino 400, his third-place finish certainly felt like a victory, given his past difficulty at the track. He finished 30th or worse there three out of the last four races.
“We won today, we just didn’t get the champagne and the trophy,” said Kyle, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry. It was his fourth top-10 finish in the four Chase races contested thus far.
Joey Logano won the race.
All three Team Interstate drivers are competing in this year’s Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup and have advanced to the Contender round that kicked off Sunday at Kansas. Kyle leaves Kansas in second with 3,042 points, six points behind Chase leader Joey. Denny leaves Kansas fifth in the standings with 3,037 points, 11 points out of first, while Matt sits seventh with 3,031 points, 17 points back.
