Team Interstate/Joe Gibbs Racing and Toyota found their way back to Victory Lane with a powerful statement in Sunday’s STP 500 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series race at Martinsville Speedway.

Denny Hamlin won the race after leading four times for 91 laps. It was his fifth win at Martinsville and his 25th career Sprint Cup Victory.

Denny’s Team Interstate companions – Matt Kenseth in the No. 20 Toyota Camry, David Ragan in the No. 18 M&M’s/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry and Carl Edwards in the No. 19 Toyota Camry – finished fourth, fifth and 17th, respectively.

“We just weren’t going to be denied today,” said Denny after the race. “Just great race cars, part of a great organization that gives me great cars that are able to do it.”

David scored his first top-5 finish since joining Team Interstate in place of injured Kyle Busch. He said everything finally came together.

“I feel like we’ve underperformed the last three or four weeks,” David said. “We’ve had some good speed and we’ve had top-10 cars, but we just haven’t been able to have a good entire weekend. Finally, we put together a good race.”
