Team Interstate: Toughing it Out in Texas
David, filling in for the injured Kyle Busch, qualified 30th for the Duck Commander 500 but quickly moved up through the field at the wave of the green flag. The car performed especially well during long green-flag runs.
“Our Interstate Batteries Camry was fast, we just didn’t finish as well as we should have with all of those cautions at the end,” David said. “Adam Stevens and our Interstate Batteries team did a really nice job adjusting on our Camry, and I felt like we had a chance at certainly a top-10 or maybe even a top-five if the cautions would have fell right.”
Teammates Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth finished 10th, 11th and 23rd, respectively. Jimmie Johnson won the race.
