Team Interstate: Solid Performance in Pocono
Team Interstate scored three Top 10 finishes in Sunday’s Axalta “We Paint Winners” 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Race at Pocono Raceway. Matt Kenseth led the way with a sixth-place finish, while Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin and Carl Edwards finished 9th, 10th and 15th, respectively.
Kyle started from the 10th position in his M&M’s/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry, and despite battling a loose racecar, he and Crew Chief Adam Stevens made adjustments to stay in the Top 10.
“We were able to hold onto it for a while,” Kyle said. “Those last two cautions didn’t help us; we just couldn’t get going on those last couple of restarts. We’ll take it and move on to Michigan.”
Kyle must win at least one race among the next 12 and be in the top 30 in points if he is to make this year’s Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. After Pocono, he sits 151 points behind Trevor Bayne, who is 30th in the points standings.
Martin Truex Jr. won Sunday’s race at Pocono.
