Team Interstate Opens Chase With a Win
Team Interstate has now won the last three Sprint Cup Series races and nine of the last 12.
Kyle Busch, driver of the No. 18 M&M’s Crispy/Interstate Batteries Toyota Camry, led a race-high 121 laps and looked poised to finish no worse than third, but a late restart shuffled him back in the closing laps.
“We had a great M&M’s Crispy Camry,” Kyle said. “Our car was really good for the first 150 laps or so, but as the track changed we started to get way too tight and eventually lost the lead there. Really encouraged by how good of car we had, but obviously disappointed by the finish.”
Denny’s win automatically advances him into the second round of the Chase, regardless of his finishes the next two weeks in New Hampshire and Dover. With Sunday’s results, JGR now holds the top four spots in the standings, with Matt Kenseth the current leader among Chase contenders, while Denny is second, Carl Edwards third and Kyle fourth.
