Chaplain’s Department
“God’s Love” - Meet our Chairman, Norm Miller, who shared what he has been learning about God’s love.
The Chaplain’s Department offers programs that Team Members may want to participate in to help them find a balance in life. Some of these programs include the following: The Family Care Fund; Camp Scholarship Program; Corporate Gift; Special Events; Resources; Entertainment & Learning.
Family Care Fund
The Interstate Batteries Family Care Fund assists Interstate team members and their immediate families faced with urgent short term financial needs. Needs are determined by the Family Care Committee, made up of Interstate team members, and resolved within current funds available.
Vision
Interstate Batteries is committed to glorifying God in the workplace. Part of fulfilling that commitment means participating in the real and urgent life needs of team members. In its desire to actively care for such needs, Interstate Batteries sets forth the following Family Care Policy and committee as a guide in administering our fund.
Purpose of this Policy
The purpose of this policy is to share Christ’s love in a tangible way and to insure that the company properly maintains this ministry through a special fund called the “Family Care Fund.”
Committee Responsibilities
The Family Care Committee is a group of team members whose responsibility it is to administer the Family Care Fund, to provide biblical direction, and to verify the existence of the financial need. The need is brought to their attention by observation or verbal communication. The Committee will maintain the highest degree of confidentiality with any employee they serve. The Committee will meet on an “as needed” basis to deal with the needs that arise. The Interstate Batteries Family Care Fund has helped several team members with difficult financial challenges. We currently get $1 per pay period from 165 contributing team members. At the current rate, it takes time to build up the fund. In light of that, we are now giving interested team members the option to give more if they desire. As a reminder, needs are presented to me and I take them to a committee of five team members to discuss the need and to make the giving decision.
Camp Scholarship Program
Interstate Batteries would like to help make it possible for you to send your child/children to camp this summer. To do this we are offering to pay $400 towards the cost of sending your child to camp up to the managerial level. We have developed scholarship programs with six different camps!
- Fellowship of Christian Athletes
- Frontier Camp
- Kanakuk/Kanakomo Kamps
- Pine Cove
- T-Bar M Sports Camp

ANGEL TREE CHRISTMAS PROJECT
Interstate Batteries supports this project under the umbrella of Prison Fellowship. This is an opportunity that enables IBSA team members to buy gifts for children of inmates. We purchase the gifts, wrap them, and then deliver them to the children before Christmas on behalf of the prisoner-parent. We also have the honor of sharing Christ’s life, death and resurrection with the families. This event culminates in December.
CONGRESSIONAL PRAYER BREAKFAST
Interstate Batteries has the privilege of coming together in prayer for our nation and what our nation represents. It is a wonderful time of food and fellowship. This event is held in February.
IBSA NATIONAL DAY OF PRAYER
Interstate Batteries has the privilege of coming together in prayer for our families, schools, children, neighborhoods, employers and many more. This breakfast is held at Interstate but under the umbrella of Focus on the Family. It is a great time of food and fellowship and is scheduled for May.
SEMINARY STUDENT LUNCHEON (Seminary students only)
Interstate Batteries honors all of our team members who are seminary students with a yearly luncheon. It is a time that Executive Management offers special thanks and appreciation to these ladies and gentlemen for their efforts to support ministry work. This event is held in September.
WOMENS LUNCHEON
The ladies of Interstate Batteries have the opportunity to fellowship on a quarterly basis. An inspirational speaker is invited and lunch is catered. This is a time of togetherness, refreshment and growth as women.
MENS LUNCHEON
The men of Interstate Batteries have the opportunity to fellowship and have a wonderful, catered lunch. An inspirational speaker is invited and it is a time of bonding and growth for men.
DALLAS WAREHOUSE BBQ (off-site)
The team members of Interstate’s Warehouse have the opportunity to come together during the year. This is a time when our Chaplain presents an inspirational message to the Warehouse personnel as well as share in a meal of BBQ with all the trimmings. To top it off, the team members participate in a few rounds of putt-putt golf and the winners(s) receive a prize. This event is held in the fall.
PIZZA LUNCHEON
Interstate Batteries offers team members a wonderful opportunity for encouragement and growth. This monthly luncheon consists of a Christian speaker along with all the pizza, salad, and cold drinks you can handle. Speakers have included people such as Chuck Swindoll, Tony Evans, Luis Palau and some you might not be familiar with such as Dolphus Weary, Bill Hendricks and Stephen Broden. We have also had guest musicians at the luncheons such as Al Denson. This is a great time for team members to invite a guest for a visit as well. The luncheon normally lasts from 12:00-1:00 and sign-up is conducted via Email. Watch for information from the Chaplain’s Dept.
*All events are open to all team members with the exception of our Seminary Students Luncheon.
